Alice Rhee will graduate in 2014 with a double major in Psychology and Business Administration. She is originally from Palm Bay, FL.
“I’ve always been the type to immerse myself in activities and I made a smooth transition from Varsity Tennis Captain, Honor Council President, Academic Team Captain, and Valedictorian of my high school to Student Government and serving as a student ambassador for the Center for Student Activities and Involvement here at the University of Florida. I am a National Merit Finalist, have several scholarships and internships, but more than anything I’m just Alice. I like reading outside, competing both intellectually and athletically, and general outlandishness. I’m proud to be a Stamps Scholar and I am so proud to be a Florida Gator!
There is a sharp rush of feeling looking down from the top of a Mayan temple and seeing nothing but miles of brilliant green forest untouched by civilization. It’s a fierce feeling of primal power and invincibility, and for a second I am on the top of the world, one hundred and sixteen steps in the air and nothing can touch me. The mood loosens its hold on me as the other students reach the top of the pyramid, but it remains in my memory and I will be forever grateful for the Stamps Scholarship for giving me the opportunity to experience that sensation at that moment in time.”
