The Stamps Family Charitable Foundation, Inc. has committed $300,000 to the Texas Exes Forty Acres Scholars Program to fund scholarships for students attending The University of Texas at Austin. The foundation has partnered with 24 outstanding universities across the country to provide scholarships to students. The funds for the Forty Acres Scholars Program are being matched by the Cockrell School of Engineering and will support four 2012 entering freshmen students in the Engineering School for a four-year merit-based scholarship.

“We welcome the University of Texas at Austin given its proud tradition and investment in undergraduate scholarships,” said Randy McDow, executive director of the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation. “We look forward to future Longhorns becoming Stamps Scholars in the Forty Acres Scholarship Program.” The Stamps Family Charitable Foundation currently supports over 200 students and is on pace to grow to 500 students in the next three years.

The Forty Acres Scholars Program, a program administered and supported by the Texas Exes, provides merit-based full-ride scholarships to extremely high achieving entering freshmen at The University of Texas at Austin. The scholarship package includes tuition, fees, books and living expenses; priority housing in honors residence halls; and funding for summer programs such as study abroad, public service, and internships. The Texas Exes is raising $150 million for an endowment to support the scholarship program, which marked its inaugural year in 2011. Once fully endowed, it will be one of the country’s largest merit-based scholarship programs.
